‘Mercutio and Benlovio enter the stage.’ Benvolio while talking to Romeo says ‘I pray thee, good Mercutio, let’s retire. The day is hot; the Capulets, abroad; And if we meet we shall not ’scape a brawl’. This means he is asking  Mercutio to stop, as the Capulets are around , and if they come across themm they cannot escape a fight. This is bad news as The prince said that if there is another fight he will banish the involved individuals .After cussing each other Romeo enters, Tybalt says ‘Well, peace be with you, sir. Here comes my man.’ This means hes priority is killing Romeo and not Mercutio. Romeo pleads Tybalt and says   ‘I do protest I never injured thee,But love thee better than thou canst devise,Till thou shalt know the reason of my love. And so, good Capulet—which name I tender as dearly as my own—be satisfied.’

Then Mercutio and Tybalt fight and Mercutio gets wounded. Mercutio not to worry anyone says ‘Ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch’. Romeo in guilt says ‘Courage, man. The hurt cannot be much.’ but Mercutio answers back saying No, ’tis not so deep as a well nor so wide as a church-door, but ’tis enough, ’twill serve. Ask for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man. I am peppered, I warrant, for this world. A plague o’ both your houses! Zounds, a dog, a rat, a mouse, a cat to scratch a man to death! A braggart, a rogue, a villain that fights by the book of arithmetic! Why the devil came you between us? I was hurt under your arm. Mercutio states that the wound is enough to take away his life, as he states that its ‘enough’ and if you ask for me tomorrow you’ll find me a gave man. Also he says ‘ A plague on both your house’ this means that he wants the both houses to be killed as they have ruined his life. Tybalt and Romeo have a fight and Tybalt dies. The Prince comes to the scene and says that Romeo will be Banished.
