In this piece of writing I’m going to be talking about how fate is involved in the play.Theres a lot of ways it has been used, it leads you to clues of what is going to happen in the play.
An example that fate was involved was when Romeo stated ‘He that hath the steerage of my course, direct my sail.’ this quotation means that Romeo isn’t in control, as someone else is directing him on his path of life. At this point Romeo is aware that someone is in control of his life, as he says ‘direct my sail’,this means that God has control of his fate and this doesn’t seem to make him bothered.
Another example of fate is when Romeo got invited to the Capulet’s party, the fate that is shown, is that he got coincidently invited to the party and then he finds out who Romeo finds out. Shakespeare disguises this with the serving man asking asking Romeo to read out the list of the people invited to the Party
In the movie made by Baslam, he uses a technique called pathetic fallacy, this is the scene when Mercutio ends up dying. At the start of the scene Mercutio starts to rage and we as a audience can tell something bad is going to happen as the weathers becomes Like a storm. A storm usually represents bad news and terrific incidents. So since the weather turns ‘stormy’ it means that it is a pathetic fallacy and there is bad new to come.

Liam,
I’m really pleased to see that you’ve removed the material you copied from the internet and are now relying on your own thinking. As I said the other day, your own analysis is actually better expressed and more sophisticated than the material you’d copied and pasted.
The piece, to be fully complete, will need an introductory paragraph, outlining the over-all idea of a semantic field and how this is developed in Romeo and Juliet in relation to fate, as well as a third device used to communicate this idea.
Let me know when you’ve finished this and I’ll assess it for the Semantic Field badge.
